Everything you Need to Know

As this campaign is just beginning, many things are in flux. This section seeks to catalogue everything that is publically available to help you understand the Legends of Greyhawk organized play campaign!

Getting Started
  • Allowed Rules Sources: PHB 2024 or the Free 2024 Rules

    • Older sources will never be allowed.

    • It is possible that future books may be allowed, but not books that are specific to other campaign worlds.

  • Starting Level: 1

  • Ability Scores: Standard Array or Point Cost (27 points)

  • Backgrounds: At this time only the PHB backgrounds are allowed, you cannot use the DMG rules for making new backgrounds to make custom backgrounds for LoG.

  • Setting: Greyhawk, year 576. The only lore you "Need" to know is in the DMG. This campaign happens before the original Living Greyhawk campaign and before most of the classic modules. LoG is its' own thing, do not expect everything to happen exactly the same way.

  • Official Player Rules are expected before Gencon (Late July 2025) these will cover everything a player needs to know to play in tier 1 (Levels 1 to 4)

  • Baldman Games launched the Preview Event at Magic Con Chicago and will start the campaign fully at Gencon.

  • The other Premiere Organizers will be launching their regions after Gencon.

  • Legends of Greyhawk is a "convention first" organized play program. While most content will eventually be available for home play, expect a focus on conventions and incentives to play the content in that format. Baldman Games has stated all of their announced content should be available for home play at some point. Further they have stated if and when they debut content that will not be made available for home play, they will provide plenty of notice. It is unknown, as of late June 2025, if other Premiere Organizers will follow this same pattern.

  • Relative to Adventurer's League this is Lower Magic and Slower Levelling with a much bigger focus on Convention Play

    • Lower Magic -- In tier one you can only have 1 uncommon (or higher) magic item. If you find a second one, you have to choose to either lose the first or the second, there is no "vault"

    • Slower Leveling, a 1st level character will advance to 2nd level after their first module. A 2nd level character will advance to 3rd, after two (more) modules. A 3rd level character will advance to 4th level after 3 modules. Going from 4th to 5th, and every level after will require 4 modules.

  • Premiere Organizers and their Regions (that have been publicly announced and in alphabetical order:)

    • Baldman Games: Old Ferrond, Greyhawk City, Highfolk, a Secret Unannounced Region.

    • GameConclave: Lordship of Isles, Urnst (County and Duchy)

    • West Coast Adventurer's Guild: Regions Not Yet Publicly Announced.

    • 4th Premiere Organizer, not Publicly Announced.
